**Location**: Agile and Police Headquarters, Northallerton. Once initial training has been achieved to ensure an individual is able to work unsupervised, agile working for a proportion of shifts can be accommodated.

**Salary**: SO1 £31,434 - £33,348 pro rata plus shift allowance and standby allowance as applicable

**Contract and hours**:
1 x Full time permanent position, 37 hours

1 x Part time permanent position, 27.25 hours - flexible working considered

**Working pattern**:
**S**hift pattern which covers 7 days per week with the requirement to participate in an on-call system to provide 24-hour cover (pro-rota).

We are looking for highly motivated individuals with strong interpersonal skills to join the Professional Standards Department (PSD) in the role of Investigator, on a full time and part time basis.

The PSD investigates complaints, misconduct, and professional standards matters involving North Yorkshire Police (NYP) employees, making recommendations for criminal, disciplinary and policy actions.

As an integral member of an investigation team you will contribute towards the development of strategies, policies, and methods of working that promote integrity and the ethical and professional standards of NYP. In addition, you will provide a source of expertise and act as a point of reference on complaints, misconduct, professional and ethical standards issues. The role also requires liaising with other bodies, organisations, internal and external customers to promote the development of the Force’s professional standards and ethical policing strategies and positive working relationships.

**Requirements**:
To be successful you will:

- Have demonstrable experience in conducting investigations and of complex information gathering and problem solving.
- The ability to break down a complex problem into component parts and determine appropriate action in investigations.
- Be confident and talented in using various IT systems, packages and/or databases.
- Have great communication skills including the ability to listen, adapt language, form, and message to meet the needs of different people / audiences.
- Be adaptable and resourceful.
- Have good team working skills demonstrating awareness of individual differences and providing support as required.
