**How you'll make a difference**:
Celebrants and Ceremony Registrars attend some of the most important days of individuals lives and can make a real difference to the celebration of Marriage and Civil Partnership Ceremonies, Naming, Commitment and Renewal of Vows.

**What will you be doing**
- Working as a Celebrant you will deliver ceremonies according to a script agreed between the couple and the registration service with a high level of customer compassion
- Acting as a liaison between the registration service and the ceremony venue on the day, you will be able to put the couple at ease whilst dealing with any last minute questions they may have
- Working as a Registrar you will conduct a pre-ceremony interview with the couple and be responsible for checking that the paperwork is in order and that there are no legal reasons why the couple should not be married on the day
- You will conduct 80 ceremonies per year and with the current level of demand you must be available and prepared to work most weekends in the months April through to the end of October, reducing to fewer weekends during the months November to March

**What we need from you**:

- It is essential that you have substantial previous experience of face to face dealings with members of the public and have excellent interpersonal and communication skills, able to converse freely with members of the public and put them at their ease and also work within a team
- You will hold 4 GCSE passes, or equivalent, including English Language and Maths and have administration experience with meticulous attention to detail in dealing with documentation, experience of using MS Office programmes and confidence using the internet
- You must have the ability to deliver a ceremony before a large group of people with sincerity and dignity and have the ability to deal tactfully with difficult and emotional situations
- As a Celebrant and Ceremony Registrar working in the Registration Service you will be legally responsible for the delivery of a statutory function and so you will need the ability to work to specified guidelines as laid down in the 1949 Marriage Act
- We require you to have neat, legible handwriting as registrars use fountain pens for registration purposes
- You will be prepared to attend all types of civil ceremonies provided by the Registration Service, which included religious ceremonies of any faith
- In this role you will be required to travel within South Gloucestershire, so you must have a current driving licence and provide a car

Celebrant: £12.47 per hour

Ceremony Registrar: £14.44 per hour
