**Receptionist**

An opportunity to join an experienced, versatile team, delivering first class services to the Defence Science and Technology Laboratory at Porton Down. Previously security cleared personnel are particularly encouraged to apply.

**Position Overview**

**Main Responsibilities**
- Provide a reception facility, acting as first point of contact for general enquiries and all persons wishing to enter the facility.
- Control access of all entitled personnel and ensure safe custody of passes at the point of entry.
- Monitor networked building services and security alarms, reacting and implementing emergency procedures when necessary.
- As necessary, liaise with the security staff, Building Manager, Health and Safety Coordinators and other support staff for the purposes of building management and safety.
- Control signatory Logs, including the issue and security of keys.
- Control the use of personal security boxes in the reception area, and when necessary, inform visitors of the mobile phone usage policy.
- Assist with the management of reception area noticeboards.
- Carry out other reasonable tasks as required; this could include cover for staff and other building management and access control duties.

**What we are looking for**

A reliable, trustworthy, competent, and physically fit person with the ability to work independently and as part of a team. Confident, self-motivated, and able to use own initiative, highly responsive to company and customer requirements. Pro-active and consistent with the ability to adapt quickly to the different needs of the business and:

- Capability to multi-task when and where needed, as required by the business
- Working knowledge of Health and Safety requirements
- Flexible approach to accommodate changing requirements and priorities
- Good customer facing skills and the ability to develop close working relationships
- Proficiency in the use of workplace IT to a level commensurate to the role (Essential)
- Maths and English to a GCSE standard.

**Additional Information**

Proof of right to work in UK essential.

The Contract operates a 37.5 hour working week requiring an element of flexible output during the overarching service hours of 0730 and 1630 Mon to Thu and to 1600 on Fri only.

Required to wear approved company work wear.
