Edinburgh, United Kingdom Belmond Full time

About the train
The Royal Scotsman rekindles the romance of rail travel. Departing from Edinburgh, this luxurious train offers 2- to 4-night journeys around the Scottish Highlands. Just 40 guests are accommodated in 10 sumptuous, Edwardian-style carriages. Rich in Scottish craftsmanship and têxtiles, they conjure up an intimate, country-house atmosphere. Fine dining is an important part of the experience, with the Executive Chef and team creating exquisite feasts based on local specialities. The train’s bar boasts over 60 whiskies, as well as fine wines and other local specialities, including the train’s own gin. Guests also enjoy one of the most unique spas in Scotland: the Bamford Haybarn Spa, a carriage transformed into a light, airy treatment space offering botanically inspired therapies.
Off-train adventures enhance every journey and include private visits to laird’s castles, whisky distilleries and wildlife-rich estates. Guests can also customise their trip with a range of activities, from wild swimming and kayaking to stargazing and golf. Evenings are rounded off with exhilarating onboard entertainment, such as Scottish storytelling or a lively ceilidh. Everything about our train is extraordinary - and we want you to be, too.

**Working on-board**: a moving experience
The camaraderie and convivial atmosphere on board make this a rewarding role. You also reap the benefits of travelling through some of the most beautiful landscapes in the world - the pine-clad mountains and mirror-perfect lochs of the Scottish Highlands.
Our shift patterns vary depending on our journey schedule, but we have a dedication to your work-life balance. We aim to offer a rotation of 2 journeys on, 2 journeys off, which can most often be an estimated week-on, week-off rotation. As we know our schedule for the year, we also offer you a full rota for the season, which allows you to really plan your social calendar.
The train stables at a quiet station each evening to ensure a peaceful night’s sleep for all. You will sleep in the staff carriage, sharing a cabin with one of your colleagues. You will have regular opportunities to disembark and exercise, explore local communities, and enjoy personal time off.
We provide all meals on board, as well as supplying any special requests for snacks, etc. Additionally, we provide and dry-clean all uniforms while on duty.
NB: This is a seasonal role which runs from March to November. This includes a 5-week training period prior to welcoming guests in April.
