**Job summary**:
This is an exciting opportunity to join the School of Nursing, AHPs and Midwifery at University Hospitals Birmingham NHS Trust (UHB). This full-time post is open to degree educated individuals with experience in research. The post holder will have the opportunity to be proactive about research, working with the School and within one project, with two other NHS Trusts across the Midlands to utilise your knowledge of research within the NHS to facilitate the set-up and delivery of research studies.

The post-holder will be responsible for creating and contributing to the generation of knowledge by undertaking a specified range of activities within a specific research project. The post holder will be able to analyse and interpret complex quantitative and qualitative research findings and results and disseminate this information to a wide audience.

**Main duties, tasks & skills required**:
You will have excellent communication skills across complex work streams, and a diverse range of stakeholders to lead and co-ordinate research projects as agreed with Head of School and Head of Research Education. You will be expected to develop research objectives, collect research data using a variety of research methods such as surveys, interviews or literature searches, analyse and interpret complex data, present and disseminate research findings, including drafting academic publications.

An important element of this role will be the ability to collaborate with relevant clinical and professional teams across the Trust to organise data collection working within the requirements of Research Governance at all times. **Person specification**:
**Qualifications**:
**Essential**:

- NMC Registered Nurse or Midwife/HCPC/BPS Registered professional.
- First degree in area of specialism and a higher degree relevant to research area or equivalent qualifications
- Evidence of continuing professional development.

**Desirable**:

- Formal teaching qualification.

**Experience**:
**Essential**:

- Significant research experience and implementation of research projects.
- Proven successful delivery of research.
- Thorough knowledge of current issues relating to the NHS.
- High level analytical capability.
- Ability to communicate complex information clearly.
- Contribute to the planning and organising of the research programme and/or specific research project.

**Desirable**:

- Ability to teach research methods.
- Supervise staff as required.

**Additional Criteria**:
**Essential**:

- Able to work and travel across UHB and other partner Trust sites across the Midlands.
- Flexible approach to working hours to cover the requirements of the role.
