Our client, Al-Medina Halal Meats is a busy Halal meat retail butcher store, actively looking for an experienced butcher to join their prestigious halal butcher store. The business has been growing for a few years and due to increased demand, they are actively looking for an experienced butcher to join their halal meat store in Edinburgh, Scotland.

Al-Medina Halal Meat is located in Edinburgh and one of the popular local halal food/meat choices. They have been serving halal meat to the Edinburgh community since 2017. They are serving a variety of halal meat products to their customers i.e. Beef, lamb, chicken, and fish products.

They are eager to find an experienced butcher who will be able to serve their customers halal meat products and his experience will allow Al-Madina Halal Meats to remain the best among other halal meat providers in the area.

**Butcher Duties & Responsibilities**:
You should know how to weigh and portion cuts of different kinds of meat and be able to use equipment such as meat grinders, saws and other tools to break down meat into portions. The further duties and responsibilities of a butcher include:

- Preparing, trimming, weighing and pricing up meat;
- Cutting and boning a carcass;
- Packaging meat and storing it correctly;
- Discussing different cuts with customers, including how to cook and safely store them;
- Keeping their working environment safe and storing meat in accordance with health and safety legislation;
- Maintaining business records and budgets

**Butcher skills and qualifications**

If you are passionate and interested in meat preparation, have some culinary knowledge, have good hand-eye coordination as well as able to use your tools safely then this is the an ideal job you have been waiting for:

- Knowledge of specialist preparations of meat such as halal
- An ability to carry meat and load it into storage
- Good communication with the rest of their team, as well as customers, delivery drivers and salespeople
- Mathematical skills to calculate prices or check if invoices are correct
- An understanding of how to maintain high hygiene standards, including correctly washing and storing meat cutting tools
- Good sales skills and an ability to discuss different cuts enthusiastically with customers

The role would benefit an experienced butcher who has access to own transport, or lives local to the area. Although public transport is also available by bus or train.

Pay: £25,600 per year

Schedule: Monday to Friday plus weekend availability
