**W2 Professorship (M/F/d) for Pharmaceutical Biology**

The appointment is planned for **01.04.2025**.

**Your responsibilities**

The professorship connects molecular natural product research with biotechnology and synthetic biology and strengthens the research focus "Engineering for Health - from Molecules to Processes" at Technische Universität Braunschweig. It focusses on the development of biotechnological production systems for natural products, preferably for plant-derived active ingredients.

The appointee should have relevant experience and a scholarly profile in at least one of the following areas:

- investigation of biosynthetic pathways and biosynthetic enzymes on the molecular level with the aim of biotechnological utilization,
- establishment of heterologous production systems for bioactive substances using enzyme cascades,
- elucidation of regulatory networks influencing biosynthetic performance in natural producers and heterologous systems,
- synthetic biological approaches for production of bioactive compounds

The professorship to be filled will be responsible for teaching at all levels of student education in the pharmacy degree program according to the licensing regulations for pharmacists (National Board Exam) and in pharmaceutical engineering degree programs (M.Sc. Pharmaceutical Process Engineering, B.Sc. Biological, Chemical and Pharmaceutical Engineering). A license to practice as a pharmacist is an advantage.

- Internationally renowned natural products research at the molecular level as proven by relevant publications in international journals

- Successful track record of securing external research funding
- Experience in setting up and leading your own research group
- Willingness to engage in further development of the core research area "Engineering for Health - from Molecules to Processes" of Technische Universität Braunschweig, especially within the Center of Pharmaceutical Engineering (PVZ)
- Willingness to participate in local and international research networks as well as in interdisciplinary research both within the faculty and across faculty boundaries and local research institutions
- Very good command of the English language and willingness to teach in both German and English
