- **Job Purpose**
With day-to-day supervision, the In-Process Inspector carries out a broad variety of assigned tasks in a highly structured, repetitive environment. A key part of this role is to demonstrate a broad number of inspection tasks well and repeat these tasks as required to inspect a high volume of quality product in the shortest possible time, to maintain production schedules. The In-Process Inspector is flexible to work on various products depending upon the need within the production schedule.
Responsible for all aspects of Quality inspection. Interpret prints, manufacturing drawings, diagrams, etc. to conduct visual, mechanical, and dimensional inspection on cable and mechanical assemblies as well as printed circuit boards in order to verify acceptability.
Inspects finished and in-process work in accordance with customer requirements. Performs acceptable 're-work' - re-pair inspection (where permitted). Accurately completes the required document packages. Ensures that only acceptable product ships to customers in a timely manner. Carry out patrol inspections.
**Nature of Duties/Responsibilities**
- Conducts repetitive inspection of product/materials against known standards, procedures and checklists.
- Ability to use micrometer, caliper and pin gages.
- Understanding of SPC Techniques and sampling plans.
- Identifies and segregates non-conforming material
- Ability to read assembly and process documentation
- Has working knowledge of IPC standards.
- Identifies, articulates and escalates problems or issues for Technical Support or Engineering, and assists in gathering requested information and proof necessary to help establish the root cause of problems and determine corrective action.
- Recognises discrepancies in documentation or problems with quality, product, or process, and recommends changes.
- Conducts product inspection, documenting as required, according to specific procedures
- Uses a variety of current software to properly execute required computer transactions, such as **Agile, Excel, and Google G Suite.**:
- Provides guidance to operators in areas such as workmanship standards, documentation, procedures, etc during patrol inspection.
- Maintains the work area and equipment in a clean and orderly condition.
- Performs all work in accordance with established safety procedures and performance standards.
- Performs incoming inspection as required (Goods Receiving)
- Provides guidance to less experienced team members and assists in training
- May assist in conducting process audits in manufacturing
- Supports other company requirements when necessary.
- May be required to work overttime
**Education and Experience**
- Must be able to work in a fast paced, highly demanding environment
- Must be able to make clear decisions in inspection process based upon input from supervisor and co-workers
- A mimimum of 1 year previous inspection experience
- Generally requires 2-4 years of factory experience in a technical manufacturing environment.
- Excellent organizational skills.
- Excellent PC skills are required.
- High attention to detail
- Good written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to escalate issues to managers, engineering and other departments
- IPC knowledge (IPC/WHMA-A-620 preferable)
- Ability to provide direction and constructive feedback
- Be able to work on own initiative or as part of a small team
- Ability to make decisions and quantify them in a professional manner
- Ability to multitask.
- Ability to use various equipment and tools and troubleshoot difficulties or escalate when required.
- Ability to work independently.
