Linux DevOps / Automation Engineer - Ubuntu and Ansible - Fully remote - Thames Valley

Avanti Recruitment is working with a successful multinational Data Analytics company to recruit a fully remote Linux Infrastructure engineer with good skills in Ansible Automation to work on their SaaS platform as part of their international technical team.They work with many big brands to improve their online performance and have been established over 10 years so are a respected player in their industry. They have adopted an automation first approach and use DevOps tools and techniques to deliver and maintaintheir production environment.

They are looking for a Linux Infrastructure Engineer who can work in an Ubuntu environment with strong skills in Ansible for automating systems with Playbooks as they adopt a automation first approach. This will be a great role for an Infrastructure Engineer/ Mid-level DevOps Engineer who is at the early stages of transitioning to a DevOps role.

To be considered you will have strong skills in:

- Linux (Ubuntu) Systems Administration,
- Ansible Automation tools,
- Jenkins for building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines
- Networking skills (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP etc.)
- Writing automation scripts with Python PHP or Shell.

This can be a fully remote role on daily basis but you will need to be able to visit their Data Centre in the Maidenhead quarterly and be within 2 hours travel for the very rare occasion where they have any major service outages that can’t be resolved remotely.

In this role you will administer their production infrastructure (70+ physical servers) and expand their automation of processes and deployments.

In detail your role will involve much of the following but you don’t have to be an expert in everything:

- Ubuntu Linux system administration
- System automation using Ansible
- Networking and Firewalls (DNS, HTTP, SSL, TCP/IP, switches)
- Administering high throughput systems
- MySQL administration and backup
- Scripting with Python, PHP or Shell
- Web services and APIs
- Jenkins for automating deployments
- Monitoring using tools such as Grafana or Zabbix
- Orchestration of Docker Containers
- Maintaining ElasticSearch
- Openstack
