Cambridge, United Kingdom University of Cambridge Full time

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the HR team in the Cambridge Institute for Medical Research (CIMR) as an HR Administrator. The CIMR HR Team offers an HR service to staff, students and visitors to the Institute, covering the employee HR life-cycle from induction to retirement.

As the HR Administrator, you will support various HR processes, including induction, probation, end of fixed-term contracts and absence management. In addition you will be responsible for drafting Visitor Agreements, preparing paperwork for work experience students, visitors and facility users and maintaining and updating personnel files and databases. You will liaise with key university services including Payroll, Compliance, Occupational Health and the Clinical School HR Team in order to ensure all processes are followed and deadlines are met.

You will be organised and be able to multitask, learning to prioritise and adapt as the workload changes and in order to meet deadlines. You must also demonstrate integrity when dealing with confidential data and information. You will demonstrate good communication skills when dealing with a variety of individuals and should be comfortable - or willing to learn - all standard Microsoft Office packages. You should be motivated to learn and develop your HR skills and remain up-to-date with changing policies and processes. Training in Cambridge University HR systems will be provided.

Due to the need to foster a good understanding of the department and build relationships, this role is based mainly on site but with the possibility of some hybrid working once you are comfortable in the role.

CIMR is an interdisciplinary and interdepartmental research institute within the School of Clinical Medicine, with an emphasis on collaboration, collegiality and mutual support. The 200+ researchers and visitors to the Institute are supported by a wide Administration Team covering HR, Finance, IT, Lab & Facilities Management and Building Services who all work together to ensure the smooth running of the Institute.

The University of Cambridge offers excellent benefits and extensive opportunities in a stimulating environment. The University salary structure includes automatic service-related pay progression in many of its grades and an annual cost of living increase. Staff also benefit from a generous annual leave entitlement and there is a range of family-friendly policies available to help support employees with caring responsibilities. The University offers a wide range of benefits from health care cash plans to childcare, a cycle to work scheme, to shopping and insurance discounts. There are also University-led initiatives in the areas of equality, diversity, inclusion and wellbeing.

The advert closes at midnight on 6th August 2023 and interviews will be held in the week commencing 14th August 2023. The position is available from September 2023.

The University has a responsibility to ensure that all employees are eligible to live and work in the UK.
