**Sensory Learning Support Assistant**

As a Sensory Learning Support Assistant, you will have the privilege to work with our amazing students who are on our Sensory Course. **The sensory course creates effective, meaningful learning opportunities for young people to become more independent. Students develop their communication skills, gain more control over their environment, improve their mobility and learn effective and appropriate ways to express their desires.**

**As an active member of the team you can expect to...**
- Prepare the sensory classroom and any activities/resources for lessons
- Support the delivery of individual student programmes
- Understand the communication and support needs of individual students to enable and facilitate their learning
- Support and record the amazing progress of our young people
- Communicate on a daily basis with other colleagues, parents and transport providers to give clear and detailed updates on all aspects of the students at drop off and pick up

**What you need to do the role**
- Experience supporting children and young people with sensory and complex health needs
- Previous experience with moving and handling in either an educational or young persons healthcare setting
- Previous experience with supporting people with Epilepsy and EpiPens would be an advantage
- Experience working within an SEND educational setting preferred
- Excellent communication and written skills
- Energetic and enthusiastic about SEND education and making a difference to the lives of our children
- Enhanced DBS check, references and occupational health checks

**Location & commitments**
- Permanent contract
- Term time only working
- Monday - Friday 8.30 am - 4 pm
