Synatel Instrumentation Ltd, part of the Donelec Group, is a world leading manufacturer of industrial electronics across a wide range of sectors, supplying to a global market.

The Quality Inspector provides intermittent and final inspections for electronics and assembly manufacturing: circuit boards, cable prep, solder, mechanical assemblies, and electronic box assemblies.

Inspect the incorporation of design changes as required. Stamp or otherwise approve acceptable items, reject unacceptable items and prepare all necessary documentation. Use information processing equipment as required to perform the above tasks.

This role will promote and enforce quality awareness throughout the organization, emphasizing excellence, continuous improvement, and corrective action to influence the overall success of company business.

**Key responsibilities and accountabilities: -**

**1. Perform Inspection & Audit activities at various stages during and after the manufacturing and test processes as well as Goods-in examination.**

a) Determine and identify root cause of a product or process failure and inconsistencies.

b) Signing off on the quality of work at each stage of production, with a key focus on the test team.

c) Identify and implement manufacturing production processes to improve productivity and quality.

d) Communicate the need for corrective action from Production personnel where defects are identified, or improvements are required. Coordinating with all departments as needed to support colleague training and development when errors are identified.

e) Ensure PCB Assemblies are inspected to ISO and any relevant industry approval body standards.

f) Ensure mechanical assemblies are inspected to the Company’s workmanship standards, using manufacturing documentation as a reference.

g) Ensure certain Goods-received are inspected by the Company to ensure they meet the specifications ordered.

h) Oversee the resolution of customer returns where a product has ‘failed’, analyse the root cause and implement the necessary corrections or improvements to the manufacturing processes.

**2. Work closely with the Production and Engineering teams to: -**

a) Minimise production hours, manufacturing and quality challenges.

b) Liaise with the Engineering, Approvals and Quality departments to rectify non-conforming products and workmanship.

c) Assist with developing standard work instructions (test procedures and other documents) to ensure high quality workmanship within all departments.

d) Provide feedback in order to modify/improve the product testing. Implement procedures and protocol to systematically seek out and prevent problems.

e) Have or develop the technical knowledge and experience to assist with the ongoing development of production test rigs.

f) Co-ordinate and participate in team based continuous improvement activities.

**3. Review and agree project quality procedures and standards, ensuring that all parties are adhering to them.**

a) Log inspection results and maintain paperwork and electronic files.

b) Run multiple tasks/projects in parallel, switching to the highest priority task as and when required and resolve issues in a timely manner with little or no disruption to the production schedules.

c) Use the Company’s systems to access (and update when necessary) details on parts, assemblies and Quality Assurance information.

d) Review Inspection and Test plans to ensure a standardised minimum level of surveillance is achieved.

e) Identify the critical inspections to be witnessed and any training requirements.

f) Assist and support operations by tracking, documenting and reporting on quality performance levels.

**Internal relationships: -**

Will need to work very closely with Operations Manager/Assistant Manager/Supervisors and Engineering Team.

**External relationships: -**

**Competence: -**

**a) Essential**

(i) The ability to analyse information both creatively and practically to diagnose problems and find optimum solutions.

(ii) The ability to plan and organise data and resources and create plans that use these to maximise success.

(iii) Quality focused and excellent attention to detail with experience of working in a team environment.

**Knowledge: -**

**a) Essential**

(ii) Experience of Electronics Manufacturing and Quality Inspection/Control.

**b) Desirable**

(i) HNC (or above) in electrical / electronic engineering

(ii) Experience of soldering techniques to IPC standards

(iii) Knowledge of ISO 9001 2015 standard.

**Skills: -**

**a) Essential**

(i) The ability to make effective decisions under pressure and work to deadlines.

(ii) The ability to communicate clearly with staff at all levels.
