We are working with them to recruit a temporary horticultural operative with a driving licence to work in and around Sheffield, the role is based at S4

The purpose of the role is to undertake environmental & horticultural maintenance duties to vacant and tenanted gardens within the local authority housing Service. To provide grounds maintenance uplift work to assist with the achievement of defined standards in designated open space as and when requested.

**Responsibilities**:

- To carry out defined maintenance work to tenanted and vacant garden within the Council Housing service. To also undertake work to other green open spaces to ensure that they are clean, safe and attractive for the enjoyment of all users.
- To assist with the delivery of the defined standard and to sustain and improve the quality of green and open spaces managed by the council housing service throughout the city when requested.
- To use equipment and horticultural machinery after suitable training
- To undertake general gardening / environmental maintenance duties and horticultural work including hedge cutting, pruning and grass cutting, litter picking, fly-tipped and other rubbish removal, using appropriate equipment directed by the senior housing officer.
- To undertake some duties without direct supervision
- To carry out improvement work including preparation and painting work to outdoor fixtures and erection of temporary fencing, signage etc.
- To work at all times in accordance with established Safe Systems of Work, Health and Safety Guidelines, Policies and Procedures.
- To undertake training and development to improve skills and competences.
- To drive company vehicles necessary to carry out the duties of the post and to report any defects and accident damage.

Essential for the role:

- Some practical experience of horticultural work
- To have some knowledge of horticultural equipment and machinery
- Valid driving licence

Hours are Mon-Fri 8am-4pm, pay rate is £10.90ph
