**Head of Maintenance**

We are currently recruiting for a Maintenance Person to carry out day to day maintenance, its services and grounds in order to ensure that the Care Home is maintained in a safe and efficient functional order.

You will be responsible for carrying out all skilled DIY & general maintenance work involved in all aspects of Springboig Care Centre maintenance, both internal and external (ensuring external ground are kept clean and tidy).

The role includes general DIY and maintenance including basic carpentry, plumbing, and painting and decorating.

Ensuring all regular checks and assessments of both private and public areas are completed, liaising with domestic assistance/housekeeping/care staff.

**Main duties and responsibilities for Head of Maintenance -**
- Diagnosing faults, testing, replacement, repair and maintenance of building, fixtures and fittings.
- General plumbing including washers, taps, unblocking toilets, unblocking stacks,
- Basic carpentry such as new locks, architrave, boxing in, assembling furniture, easing and adjusting windows, replacing handles and similar hardware.
- General painting & decorating
- Basic electrical maintenance such as changing light bulbs.
- Identify hazards, defects and the need for adjustment or repair
- Carry out planned tasks in accordance with contract/agreed requirements within agreed time limits
- Maintain accurate records/documentation associated with your work
- Immediately report problems/failures that may impact on the organisation and/or its service users to Line Manager
- Ensure all Health and Safety requirements are met and to observe safe working practices in carrying out the required duties and ensure that instructions specified by technical consultants, contractors and manufacturers are adhered to
- Undertake Health and Safety/ Fire training for all new staff.

**Essential -**
- **Keen eye for detail**:

- **Basic in painting and decorating, basic electrics and basic plumbing**:

- **Knowledge and understanding of Health and Safety and Fire Safety Understanding of general maintenance work / DIY Experience in dealing with minor repair work**:

- **Have a flexible approach towards working routines**:

- **Previous experience in a care home environment is desirable but not essential**:

- **Electrical or joinery background is desirable but not essential**:

- **Good communication skills**:

- **Ability to work as part of a team**:

- **Good health and fitness, the post involves lifting and requires physical stamina**

**Job Types**: Full-time, Permanent

**Salary**: £12.50 per hour
