**Lecturer Grade F**: £33,348 to £43,155 per annum

**Lecturer Grade G**: £44,414 to £52,841 per annum

The Role

The School of Education, Communication and Language Sciences (ECLS) is seeking to appoint a Lecturer in Speech and Language Sciences (SLS). You will be a speech and language therapist, with a strong clinical background in speech, language and communication needs (SLCN) in children and with some experience of working with students. You will make a significant contribution to teaching and personal tutoring within SLS across both undergraduate and postgraduate pre-registration speech and language therapy Health and Care Professions Council approved programmes. The successful applicant will be part of a diverse and collegiate team of academics, clinicians, researchers and professional support staff delivering high quality teaching and research.

Key Accountabilities
Make a significant contribution to the planning, teaching and assessment of modules in line with the requirements of the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) Standards of Education and Training and the Royal College of Speech and Language Therapists (RCSLT) Curriculum Guidance.
Provide a range of timely student support to enhance student experience and achievements, including personal tutoring.
Contribute to provision of in-house clinical placements in the children’s speech and language clinic, including supervision and assessment of students, oversight and support for therapy planning and delivery
Depending on experience, to take responsibility for a defined administrative role such as Module Leader. To evaluate all areas of own practice and undertake continuing professional development. To undertake scholarly activities, associated with the role and to engage fully in the academic life of the school.
Undertake academic duties as required by the Head of School.

The Person

Desirable Experience of teaching undergraduate and postgraduate students in a Higher Education context Personal tutoring experience Demonstrable ability to deliver high quality teaching related to Speech and Language Sciences Experience of undertaking scholarly activities, including presenting or publishing in professional practice and/or educational conferences or journals

Attributes and Behaviour Ability to engage with and respond enthusiastically and positively to students Ability to work collaboratively, constructively and flexibly within a team of colleagues and students Excellent interpersonal skills Ability to communicate complex information clearly both orally and in writing
Willingness to contribute to engagement activities with professional partners at local and national levels

Qualifications Qualified speech and language therapist, registered with the HCPC and existing or eligible to be member of the RCSLT
Desirable Recognised HE teaching qualification Training and/or qualification in a relevant area beyond pre-registration degree
