Plant Centre Assistant

A key part of the Plant Centre Team this role will support and maintain The Alnwick Garden Plant Centre.

**Key Duties and Responsibilities of this role include**
- Ensure the Plant Centre is well stocked with Healthy and quality plants found within The Alnwick Garden Nursery. Loading and unloading deliveries in a safe manner
- Develop a stock list with a variety of plants to establish The Alnwick Garden as the go to destination for plant buying in North Northumberland by supporting the Plant Centre Manager
- Working in the nursery to nuture and supply plants. This includes pruning, shaping and spacing plants, weeding watering and feeding as well as potting seedlings.
- Serving customers and answering questions with a wide range of plant knowledge
- Assist with the survey of correctness of plant labels
- To undertake a comprehensive range of horticulture tasks to a very high standard supporting both the Gardening and Retail team.
- Work with the Plant Centre to encourage a positive culture within the Garden ensuring Customer expectations are met
- Act as a role model for The Alnwick Garden culture and values
- Any other duties as requested by the Plant Centre manager to enable the smoothing running of The Garden.
- A solid foundation of gardening knowledge and experience
- A varied knowledge of plants and plant care.
- Ability to work in a values driven organisation
- Physically fit due to the level of manual handling
- A full driving licence is desirable
