**An exciting opportunity has arisen for Packaging Engineer (Graduate Level) to join our client, a leading global FMCG company with Brands such as TIGI, VO5 and Impulse, to be based at our client's prestigious facility in Liverpool Science Park (willinvolve a mix of working from home and working from the office).**

**This is a full time, temporary role to last for 6 months, paying between £26,956 - £29,951 per annum, pro rata, depending on experience.**

**Background**:
Elida Beauty is a very exciting new beauty business within U/L. We are re-founding iconic brands by remixing them for today's generation, making them even bigger beauty hits than they were first time around.

The Packaging Engineer will work closely with all internal experts (R&D, Marketing, Supply Management, Supply Chain) and external suppliers to cover all aspects of the development and testing of new packaging to support the portfolio of Elida Beauty brands
- except aerosols.

**Main Purpose of the job**:
Deliver packaging development activities for projects across primary and secondary pack components

Work as part of the project team to coordinate and manage the testing of all elements of packaging through 3Ps and suppliers, in addition to internal confirmatory analysis

Identify new packaging opportunities to deliver to consumer, customer and business needs - including, but not limited to, new and more sustainable product solutions

Input broader packaging thinking to x-functional team, such as claims opportunities, cost opportunities and new trend space identification

**Responsibilities**:

- Deliver packaging development activities on new variant/brand projects - including providing technical guidance to design agencies, suppliers and marketing. Responsibility for all packaging elements throughout complete supply chain - including primary andsecondary development.
- Develop new, or modify existing, packaging which is compatible with supply chain, formulation, consumer and brand requirements and safety and regulatory needs. Ensure the pack will function as expected and has been demonstrated as such via relevant testingand interpretation of results, and creation of relevant specifications. Understand environmental footprint and impact of packaging options, via tools such as LCA.
- Identify and bring to the organisation new business opportunities through novel or adaptive packaging thinking and understanding of consumer trends and needs. Must include, but not limited to, sustainability game changers and inclusive design approaches.
- Develop compelling consumer and customer stories through identification and development of packaging claims. Support business through direct customer interactions and presentations where required.
- Lead input of packaging related perspective to x-functional teams - ensuring risks are identified, understood and mitigated. Ensure timings and expectations of packaging related activities are ambitious and correctly recognised within project plans.
- Manage and lead technical relationships with suppliers to deliver new hardware designs, component qualifications, colour developments and artwork approaches. Maintain necessary intellectual property rights of all parties.

**Critical Competencies**:

- Demonstrated strong aptitude for packaging development. Formal packaging qualification is preferred
- Experience and knowledge of key processes in both primary and secondary pack development, selection and qualification.
- A creative, logical and analytical mind to generate innovative design solutions to technical design problems.
- You will need to be self-motivated with good verbal and written communication skills. Able to communicate design and engineering principles to people at all levels of the business, across different functions.
- Experience of working in partnership with x-functional partners beneficial, especially Supply Chain and quality
