**Children’s Senior Residential Care Worker**

Full time / Part Time; Permanent

Salary Range: £23,920 - £25,480 (plus sleep in allowance: £55)

**About the service**

At BASE Support Services, we specialise in delivering care and support to children and young people aged 11 - 19 with a commitment to help them achieve their full potential. The care we provide is trauma informed with a strength-based Signs of Safety approach embedded throughout the services

We are also excited to be opening a new home in Cardiff for children aged 11 - 15 and are looking for enthusiastic, dedicated individuals who share our values and commitment to the care of young people to join our new and existing teams.

**About the job**

Working in line with the Statement of Purpose, taking responsibility for the safe running of the service whilst providing individualised care to meet children’s needs.

Act as primary key worker where the ability to develop professional and trusted relationships is essential. Working with a positive and supportive approach, lead on specific house projects and contribute to the ongoing training and development of the team.

Being a role model of good practice, you will play a key part in promoting and maintaining high standards throughout the care team.

You will contribute to the implementation and amendment of placement and risk management plans through direct work with our young people to ensure their views are heard and individual needs are met.

You will keep accurate daily recordings, compile incident reports and complete health and safety records. Our care workers play a pivotal role in day-to-day life of the children, facilitating activities and visits to friends and family, supporting their education and health needs, participating in meal preparation and cleaning routines.

**Requirements (Skills and Qualifications)**
- Be child centred, with a high level of empathy and integrity in your work
- Be an effective communicator with the ability to build positive, trusting relationships with children, their families and network of professionals and wider support
- A commitment to personal and professional development
- Hold or working toward Level 2 Core & Level 3 Practice in Health and Social Care (Children and Young People) (or equivalent for registration with SCW)
- Previous experience of working within a residential setting
- Experience of working with young people in a childcare setting
- Full and current driving license and be prepared to use the company car to transport young people as necessary

**Additional information**

**Hours** - Full time & Part time, 4-week rolling shift pattern including evening / weekend work and sleepins.
