Location: Porth Plaza (Rhondda South) and Llantrisant Leisure Centre and Rhydyfelen offices (Taf).
Pay: £15.25
Shifts: 37 hours a week (Monday-Friday)
Work pattern: hybrid working/outreach (going out into the communities).
The Employment Mentor will work as part of a joint delivery team to deliver opportunities for upskilling and employment support as part of the Council's Communities for Work+ programme.
To be responsible for providing one-to-one mentoring to participants experiencing unemployment, helping them to identify and take practical steps to upskill, move closer to the labour market and overcome barriers to employment.
To maintain accurate and up-to-date records of one-to-one support, gathering evidence to outline participant outcomes and progress.
Your role:
- To manage the recruitment, retention, training and development of participants, building positive relationships and developing effective processes to identify and overcome barriers as a pathway securing employment.
- To have individual responsibility for mentoring a caseload of participants, using a positive, enabling, and collaborative approach.
- To use a variety of techniques, including effective diagnosis, individual coaching and personal support to maximise the number of Programme participants progressing into employment.
- To work with key stakeholders, service delivery partners, statutory and non-statutory organisations along with local businesses and the ELO team to generate referrals whilst promoting the support available through the programme.
- To work closely with stakeholders such as Flying Start, Interlink, Supporting People, Local Housing Associations, and local businesses to provide an effective referral pathway and support for participants experiencing multiple barriers to employment.
- To provide a flexible service, developing comprehensive support plans with participants, undertaking further assessments and regular reviews as appropriate.
- To create timely support and interventions for participants moving between the closely aligned UK Government and Welsh Government Anti-Poverty Programmes to identify the most appropriate service of support, enabling the participant to make positive steps towards employment.
- To work closely with the Employer Liaison and wider CfW+ teams where appropriate.
- To provide information, advice and guidance regarding the support available from the Programme to key stakeholders and participants.
- To maintain accurate and up-to-date individual records of support, working towards a set of given outcomes and outputs that satisfy funding requirements.
11.To work with other team members in supporting participants to prepare for training and upskilling.
