Governance Lawyer

Service Care Legal are currently working alongside a local authority in the Berkshire region who are recruiting for a Governance Lawyer to join their Legal team on a contract basis. Below is further details regarding the position.

**ROLE**: Governance Lawyer
**LOCATION**: Berkshire / 90% remote
**RATE**: £40.00 to £45.00 per hour
**CONTRACT**: 3 days per week, 3 month rolling contract

**The Role**
- To act as the principal solicitor and legal adviser in the provision of local government, public law and constitutional advice to the Council
- To represent and act on behalf of the Council in the protection and enforcement of the Council's rights and responsibilities
- To be the primary point of contact and supplier of legal and information governance advice
- To implement a consistent, corporate approach to legal advice and acting as an expert advisor in respect to the law, best practice and procedure

**The Person**
- A qualified Solicitor, Legal Executive or Barrister with a minimum of 2 years' PQE
- Previous local government working experience would be essential for this position
- Experience and a track record of providing high quality, progressive legal and procedural advice within a relevant context
