We are looking for an energetic Healthcare Assistant to work within the multidisciplinary team who has a genuine desire to play an active part in the care of our patients.

**Please note**: This job involves shift work covering day, night and weekend shifts
- Long days, 07.00- 20.00 and night shifts, 19.30- 07.30.

Applications are welcome from experienced Healthcare assistants as well as those with no experience as full training will be given.

To assist in the provision of nursing care (psychological, spiritual and sociological as well as physical), to patients in hospital as a member of the proactive nursing team. Direct care will be delivered to patients suffering a range of problems including: dementia/confusion, falls/fractures following strokes, heart and respiratory conditions as well as palliative and terminal care. To have the ability to recognise and report any changes in a patient’s condition and needs.

Here at EPUT we maintain our own bank of specialist staff to ensure that we are able offer safe and effective care at all times.

All our permanent staff are automatically enrolled onto the staff bank however this does not mean you have to work any additional shifts, but the option is there for you if you wish.

Clinical/Professional Duties

At the direction of the Registered Nurse, participate fully in the delivery of planned nursing care, using a wide range of clinical skills.

Provide reassurance and support to patients, carers/family.

Patient/Client Care

Involve patients and carers/relatives in delivery of patient care.

Provide escorts for patients and undertake transfer of patients as directed.

Communication Skills

Work collaboratively with others in the ward to ensure the patients’ needs are met.

Education and Research

Develop own skills and knowledge and contribute to the development of others.

Participate in KSF appraisal review as per the Trust policy.

**Attend mandatory ‘in-service’ training programmes including**: moving and handling, fire etc.

Fulfil the role of link nurse as required.

Attend and participate in ward/team meetings.

Participate in patient and public involvement activities.
