**Job Introduction**:
Challenging disinformation globally is a strategic objective for World Service Languages.

The World Service Languages Disinformation Team works in multiple languages to observe, report and investigate disinformation stories and trends, exposing the disinformation industry and the real-world harm of disinformation.

Fact-checking asks ‘what is right/wrong’; disinformation journalism also asks who is spreading the bad information, how it is getting it to you, and why they want you to believe it.

The WSL Disinformation Team uses data-driven research and cutting-edge forensic and OSINT techniques alongside traditional journalism to bring audiences these stories in an accessible, engaging format - in English and local languages.

The team produces outstanding, acclaimed original journalism showing how disinformation campaigns and the bad actors behind them cause real-world harm.

We are looking for a talented **Journalist** to monitor, plan and produce stories about disinformation disseminated by global state and non-state actors across the world.

**Job Responsibilities**:

- Identifying trends in the spread of disinformation content using analytic tools, OSINT and traditional journalism techniques.
- To use verification and investigative tools and combine them with traditional storytelling techniques to produce compelling stories about disinformation campaigns
- To research and produce disinformation stories of interest to World Service Languages/global audiences, for different digital platforms.
- Planning for coverage of big news events that might give rise to fake news
- If needed, going on air to share editorial insights with our audiences
- To work closely with our editorial teams across multiple platforms on joint editorial projects as well as to create the greatest impact.
- Significant experience of tracking and fact-checking global disinformation, including use of data analytic and verification tools, and translating into compelling, human-centred stories.
- Experience of using OSINT and other forensic tools and techniques and data-driven research to produce news-making content
- A successful record in digital news production with demonstrable experience of both writing text and producing high-impact digital content to the highest editorial standards.
- Experience of reaching new audiences and knowledge of social media best practice
- A clear understanding of the needs and profile of our target audiences across the World Service and the ability to translate these into imaginative and compelling multi-platform content.
- The ability to plan and organize time and resources effectively and to manage projects to conclusion according to deadlines.
- Excellent English writing skills and the ability to communicate effectively.
- The ability to work fast, accurately and under pressure.
- Experience of filming and/or creation of other assets used for digital video production would be an advantage.
- Expertise in one or more global region and knowledge of the relevant languages is desirable.
- Knowledge of Arabic is desirable, but not essential
