Job Purpose
To provide an effective service by carrying out the duties associated with Carpentry and Joinery works covering installations, repairs, refurbishment and upgrades to a range of housing and non housing Council properties and assets. To use the experience and skills gained in undertaking these work combined with academic achievements at college to complete fully an NVQ Level 4 qualification as part of the apprenticeship programme.
The key roles of this post will include:
1. Be committed to the apprentice programme and willing to learn from all formal development activities in your chosen trade
2. Take ownership for own development and committed to the exchange of information including; ideas, development, actions and feedback
3. Work proactively with mentor to assess areas of strength, development areas, career goals and personal objectives
4. Communicate with managers/supervisors/human resources, taking responsibility for addressing any issues, concerns or difficulties as soon as they arise.
5. Attend all identified training activities at work and at college and work towards achieving the qualification or statement of attainment stated in the apprenticeship contract
6. Carry out work based activities, tasks at Height - using Elevated Platforms, Ladders and Scaffold and Confined Spaces (with appropriate Training)
7. Maintaining your work uniform and trade tools supplied by the Company.
8. To obtain a full Category B Driving License by the end of the apprenticeship programme
to enhance future employability (undertaken at apprentices’ own expense).
9. Such other responsibilities allocated which are appropriate to the grade of the post.
