General Handyman/woman

To maintain an attractive, safe and well-functioning environment for the vulnerable adults in our care. Some flexibility regarding working hours is essential, but in general the hours are Monday to Thursday 9am-2pm.

**Responsibilities and Duties**

1. To investigate faults and breakdowns and to organise repair/replacement thereof.

2. Maintain equipment and keep records as required.

3. To assess vacant rooms and prepare same for occupancy.

4. To maintain the fabric of the building.

5. To carry out monthly checks on the mini bus and organise repairs as needed, and to serve as mini bus driver on occasion.

6. To liaise with others involved in maintenance on any programme of works determined by the Manager.

The advice and guidance of the Manager/Deputy and Senior Carers, the equipment and facilities of the home.

**Essential Qualifications and Experience**

Must be physically fit. Must be able to work single handed and able to use own initiative in organising work. A general knowledge of various DIY skills. Able to drive a minibus.

**Personal Attributes**

Must be totally reliable and honest; must be willing to work hard and be adaptable; preferably with a cheerful and pleasant disposition, with a down-to-earth approach. Must be patient and understanding of the ageing process in relation to the requirements of residents.

Part-time hours: 20 per week

**Salary**: £10.50 per hour
