This is an exciting opportunity to join a well known organisation in the post of Head of Financial Accounts.

Reporting to the Head of Financial Reporting and in turn the Director of Financial Operations, the Head of Financial Accounts is a senior and key role in the Financial Reporting team. The role is responsible for the key financial accounting and regulatory reportingprocesses of the Group, including managing the year end financial accounting, review of and ensuring compliance with the Group’s accounting policies and liaison with external auditors. They will be responsible for taking a lead role in preparation of all financialinformation to meet the needs of stakeholders.
The post is full time, 35 hours per week, and open ended.
Standard working pattern - Monday to Friday

**Key Duties**
- Draft the statutory Financial Statements to the agreed timetable, including liaison with Group departments responsible for the Annual Report, and ensuring compliance with relevant accounting standards and regulatory requirements
- Preparation of audit briefing papers and Committee papers required as part of the year end
- Key role in the annual external audit, including liaison with external auditors
- Design and co-ordination of the year end accounting processes
- Responsible for a range of detailed financial accounting, which must be undertaken in a timely manner and in accordance with relevant accounting standards
- Managing the reconciliation of all Balance Sheet accounts
- Responsible for the annual impairment review of joint venture investments and managing the relationship between the Group and its subsidiary companies and joint ventures
- Support subsidiary company finance teams as and when required
- Ensuring the Group accounts reflect all relevant changes in accounting standards
- Review of the Group accounting policies, and proposing and implementing relevant and appropriate changes to policy
- Document and maintain standard operating procedures for financial accounting activities, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations, and maintaining a cycle of review
- Continually strive to improve the quality and timeliness of financial information to all stakeholders
- Responsible for the preparation of other annual regulatory reports, including the Charity Commission return
- Play a key role in the continued development of finance processes and policies
- Play a key role in the establishment and maintenance of a Finance Controllers’ Manual for the Group
- Perform ad hoc financial analysis and investigation as may be required from time to time
- Provide training and mentoring to finance staff as necessary
- Perform other duties as assigned by Head of Financial Reporting

**General Duties**
- Ensure that an understanding of the importance of confidentiality is applied when undertaking all duties
- Abide by Groups policies on Health and Safety and Equality and Diversity
- Perform other duties occasionally which are not included above, but which will be consistent with the role

**Essential Criteria**

- Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA or similar), technically strong, with experience of working at a senior level in a similar role.
- Able to demonstrate expert technical financial accounting knowledge, to be recognised as an authority in the field.
- Able to work with complex datasets and have a proven track record of producing high level insightful analysis from input data and consolidating findings in board reports and analytics.
- Able to demonstrate expert professional knowledge of financial systems and knowledge of working with Oracle or a similar ERP system.
- Able to demonstrate proven experience in developing and improving new processes and procedures.
- Evidence of ability to explore customers’ needs, adapt the service, and set customer expectations, to ensure that technical financial accounting advice is provided in an understandable way.
- Proven ability to develop networks in order to contribute to long term developments
- Able to evidence ability to research and solve technical accounting problems using initiative and creativity; identifying and proposing both practical and innovative solutions
- Evidence of demonstrable knowledge of key advances within Finance
