**Job Purpose**
To provide a range of logístical, Technical and cleanroom plant support functions for members of a world class academic cleanroom. Support the smooth and effective running of the cleanroom facility as directed by line manager/director of operations/research engineer. All training to support these activities will be provided.

**Main Duties/Responsibilities**
1. Carry out a wide range of functions including logístical support, assist technical and support staff as directed.
2. Maintain a high standard of housekeeping in plant areas (indoor and outdoor) associated with the JWNC ensuring these are clean, tidy and that access routes are clear of obstructions.
3. Distribute gas bottles throughout the JWNC, monitor the content levels of those gases on a weekly basis and where appropriate order replacements.
4. Clean and distribute lab ware and distribute consumables, chemicals and personal protective equipment.
5. Support JWNC technical staff on maintenance projects involving removal and replacement of heavy plant/equipment and where necessary arrange packing and shipping to and from vendors for servicing or repair.
6. Organise, handle and distribute goods/materials delivered to and from the JWNC. This includes arranging shipping through our DHL account
7. Carry out repair and maintenance of equipment following detailed instruction and assist senior technical staff.
8. Be a point of contact for our specialist contractors that look after our RO water system and our compressed air system.
9. Monitor spares and consumable stock levels and replenish by placing orders on the Agresso system
10. To provide manual handling support for JWNC staff as required.
11. To carry out a range of checks on plant and equipment and take appropriate responsive action or report faults through appropriate channels.

**Knowledge, Qualifications, Skills and Experience**

**Knowledge/Qualifications**

**Essential**:

A1 Either: Ability to demonstrate the competencies required to undertake the duties associated with this level of post having acquired the necessary knowledge and skills in a similar role. Or: Scottish Credit and Qualification Framework level 4 in English and Mathematics (National 4) or equivalent, and some experience of working in a similar role.
A2 Knowledge of safe manual handling techniques and practice.
A3 Basic knowledge and understanding of individual health and safety responsibilities in the workplace.
A4 A clean, full UK driving licence.

**Desirable**:

B1 A recognised training certificate in manual handling.
B3 Basic knowledge of plant/equipment used in a technical/engineering working environment.

**Skills**

**Essential**:

C1 Accuracy and attention to detail.
C2 Good manual handling skills and able to safely use a range of handling equipment.
C3 Able to use basic hand/power tools.
C4 Basic numeracy and writing skills.
C5 Ability to work both independently and as part of a team as directed.
C6 Good communication skills.
C7 Good driving skills and able to drive vans and small vehicles safely.

**Desirable**:

D1 Good practical skills including set up of apparatus, operation of equipment and ability to carry out basic maintenance.

**Experience**

**Essential**:

E1 Experience of manual handling and coping with physically demanding work.
E2 Experience of safely using handling equipment.
E3 Experience of carrying out routine checks and reacting and/or reporting accordingly.

**Desirable**:

F1 Experience of driving vans and small minibuses
F2 Experience of dealing with a wide range of people and exercising good customer relations.

**Terms and Conditions**
Salary will be Grade 3, £20,400 - £21,197 per annum.
This post is full time and open ended.
