**About the job**

This role is a fixed term maternity cover. The role reports into the Senior New Product Development Manager and manages two lab technicians.

As Lab supervisor, you are responsible for managing the lab, developing processes and training for the delivery of new products. You will manage the laboratory like a mini pilot plant from the operational budget / CAPEX process point of view, to managing general stock inventory. You will assist in strategic CAPEX planning for Mid Term Planning needs and manages the CAPEX spend in the New Product Development laboratories and mini pilot plants. You will be accountable for quality control and need to ensure full traceability is executed (maintenance of the records of ingredients, processes and procedures for full traceability).

You will have a continuous improvement mindset and conduct cost saving initiatives (COVI) activities and review process and ways of working to ensure efficiency.

You will oversee documentation procedures, provide guidelines and training, and act as the custodian of essential records. You will coach and train the lab technicians to guarantee the proper utilisation of the equipment.

You will manage risk assessments in conjunction with EHS and report on near miss or incident reporting and implementing corrective actions.

You are responsible for managing the lab organization including process of ensuring labelling, equipment maintenance schedules, quality systems, procedures, process, waste disposal.

You will obtain relevant accreditation/registration and maintain requirements (POC, mock-audits).

**What you'll bring to the table**
- Technical food-related science experience (Food Technology, Chemistry, Biochemistry, Biology or Agricultural Engineering).
- Strong laboratory skills, within food/beverage setting with knowledge of Food Safety, COSHH, Quality Management Systems, including HACCP and experience implementing HACCP in a lab/pilot plant environment
- Great communication skills and ability to bring people on the journey
- Good understanding of Research & Development processes
- Continuous improvement mindset
- Highly organised and accurate individual

**Salary**: £41,000.00-£48,000.00 per year
