An opportunity has arisen for **Project Engineer - CFD** to join our CAE team in a rapidly expanding and exciting work environment. Working within the WAE CAE group the successful individual will have a good understanding of 1D modelling and 3D CFD analysis tools & processes for aerodynamic and thermal modelling to support WAE’s diverse project portfolio.

**Job role**:

- Working within the CFD analysis group, supporting the wider CAE department.
- Working across a matrix structure, supporting project teams to fulfil customer requirements and deliverables.
- To be client-centric, interacting directly with internal and external customers.
- To work across a wider variety of projects, for diverse clients across a number of engineering sectors.
- Aiding concept direction, through feasibility and early stage analysis.
- Presentation, reporting and discussion of analysis results and participation in design reviews.
- Creation, development and running of 1D and CFD analysis simulations (steady state and transient) including:
- external vehicle airflow, lift/drag and assessing vehicle performance and thermal management
- flow/pressure/temperature internally in structures including battery cooling plates, cooling circuits,
- HVAC
- flow/pressure externally across structures including brake cooling, motor cooling
- fuel cell systems
- Detailed analysis of simulation results and creation of comprehensive post processing.
- To balance multiple concurrent projects and manage your own workload.
- Developing co-simulation toolsets and CFD methodologies within WAE.
- Actively pursuing CPD activity within professional engineering.

**You’ll have**:

- A degree in mechanical, automotive, or aerospace engineering.
- Experience of CFD simulation, post processing and geometry preparation with one or more of the following:

- Star CCM+ (preferred)
- GT Suite
- OpenFOAM
- ANSA
- 1D and CFD experience in the analysis of automotive and aerospace related structures and systems,inclusive of overall vehicle performance, HVAC, and vehicle thermal management.
- Experience in the automotive, aerospace or motorsport industry would be advantageous.
- Some practical experience of physical testing would be beneficial.
- Working knowledge of TeamCentre and of CATIA V5 or Siemens NX would be advantageous.
- Working towards Chartership status with the IMechE/IET (or similar) would be advantageous
- Interest/background in fuel cell systems and analysis are very advantageous
