The Community Safety Accreditation Scheme (CSAS) has been set up in Weymouth to tackle anti-social behaviour, such as street drinking and begging. You will form part of a team of 6 Community Safety Patrol Officers who will patrol the area on foot. Every day will bring new challenges, and you will be equipped with powers to tackle a range of anti-social behaviours and trained to support vulnerable people, such as rough sleepers. You will be based with the Council's Community Safety Team, in Weymouth, and will have daily contact with Dorset Police's Neighbourhood Policing Teams.

Shift work is required and this will include evening, weekend and bank holiday working.

**What you will be doing**

The purpose of your role will be to make a positive and professional contribution to the reduction of anti-social behaviour in Weymouth. You will be required to enforce relevant legislation and respond to a range of community safety related issues in the town, for example:

- monitoring and enforcing on-street-drinking regulations, including the seizure and disposal of alcohol;
- monitoring and enforcing begging prohibitions.
- signposting vulnerable people to the relevant support agencies.

This is a collaborate role where you will be working with a range of different services and partner agencies, for example Housing, Rough Sleeper outreach teams, Drug and Alcohol support agencies, Weymouth Town Council and British Transport Police. As well as the Police you will have regular interaction with other enforcement teams such as the Dog Warden Service, Environmental Enforcement, Licensing and CCTV.

This role focuses on problem solving and working in partnership to resolve community problems. You will receive CSAS accredited training and qualifications as well as First Aid training, Personal Safety training and guidance on how to use the Police radios.

You will be uniformed, have radio contact with the Police and will be undertaking the majority of your patrols on foot, providing a visible presence to the town. You will have regular interaction with members of the public, the business community and will also be required to attend community meetings and communicate with customers via social media.

You should also:

- Have an awareness of, and responsiveness to, the objectives of good enforcement practice;
- Be able to collaborate with other organisations and individuals to achieve objectives;
- Have proven experience of working effectively both independently and as part of a team;
- Have previous experience of enforcement practices;
- Have experience of dealing with challenging people;
- Be able to accurately record events or observations;
- Be IT literate in Microsoft Office Applications.

This post has a significant travel requirement and you are contractually required to have a vehicle (or transport deemed to be suitable by the council) available for use as required.
