**Trainee Payroll Assistant**

**JOB DESCRIPTION**:
To work as a full-time Trainee Payroll Assistant in a busy payroll department within an accountancy firm. Full training will be provided, using Sage Payroll. Previous experience would be an advantage but is not essential.

A description of the role:

- Preparing payroll for clients using Sage payroll and submitting to HMRC;
- Calculating the PAYE/NIC deductions for the employees and employer;
- Calculating pension deductions and uploading this information to pension providers including NEST and People’s Pension;
- Preparing year end P60s;
- Providing holiday cover for other staff within the department;
- Liaising with clients regarding their payroll and employees;
- Speaking to HMRC and pension companies regarding our clients’ employees;
- Ad-hoc admin within the wider Tax department including preparation of dividend minutes, submission of tax returns
- Participate in training and performance development as required.
- Have strong mathematical skills and a logical mind;
- Friendly, reliable and honest;
- A positive and proactive mindset;
- The ability to work under pressure and able to manage their time effectively;
- To be able to work as part of a team;
- The drive to work hard to achieve your goals.
- Be competent in using MS office products and computers;
- An understanding of confidentiality;
- Show excellent communication, organisation and presentation skills;
Full training will be given to develop the skills required and to work within a team.

37.5 hours per week

Salary - market rates depending on experience

MITG Ltd will be the employer, working at the offices of Mitchell Gordon LLP, Accountants in Darlington.
