Fixed Term Consultant With interest in Allergy - 6 months - 3PA

We’re looking for a Fixed-Term Consultant at 3 programmed activities to join the specialist Allergy Service at Royal Sussex County for a 6 month period. The post is to provide extra capacity whilst longer-term business plans are completed. A CCT in Allergy/ Immunology is not required, but you will need to demonstrate evidence of extensive experience in the diagnosis and management of allergic and related disorders and hold a CCT in a relevant medical specialty (eg Respiratory Medicine, Dermatology) or in Paediatrics.

**The clinical duties of the post include the following**:

- 2 clinics per week for new and follow up patients
- Complete all associated administrative tasks, including (where needed) prescribing and homecare administration for patients under your care
- Participate in training and supervision with Dr Tarzi
- Participate in departmental minuted meetings
- Contribute where possible to quality management and improvement activity

The Allergy Service sits within Respiratory Medicine and works from Main Outpatients at The Royal Sussex County Hospital. We are commissioned by NHSE to provide specialist allergy services to the population of Sussex. Facilities are available for skin testing, spirometry and injection training. The service sees around 700 new patients per year. We have large programmes for desensitisation, omalizumab and patients with C1 inhibitor deficiency. Drug allergy services and challenge testing are not currently offered.

The busy ‘drop in’ desensitisation clinics are held on Monday and Wednesday mornings. We work closely with our network partners in London and Surrey and participate in regional meetings.
