**Position**:Mechanical Engineer

**Job Type**: Contract

**Location**: Cambridge

**Salary**: £250 - £300/day

**The Role**:
We are looking for an experienced Mechanical Engineer to support the research of a one of a kind, unique technology and help in it's transition into production.

The team is multi-disciplinary, and comprises of; optics, software and electronics experts with a collaborative and agile atmosphere.

The key responsibilities of of this role with be technology demonstration and supporting research activities. This will include; Enabling new functionality as required, High tolerance design and build of mechanical assemblies, experimentation, and cleardocumentation and report summaries including specifications

Daily you will be design, source, assemble and test mechanical systems that are required to support the project.

**Requirements**:

- 5 + years related technical engineering experience
- Expert in Solidworks including PDM
- Significant experience in the design and implementation of motion systems requiring sub micrometer accuracy alignment
- Hands-on experience with methods of fabrications to include light machining and 3D printing

**Desirable**:

- Familiarity with optical systems including free space optics, waveguide/fibre optics, monolithic optical design
- Design for manufacture
- Software/Coding familiarity (Python)
- Simulation tools (Ansys)
