Our purpose is simple, to save lives at sea. Since the 19th century, our crews have been risking their lives to save those who are in danger of drowning.

As an Assessor/Trainer (AT) you will be fully involved with helping our crews to achieve and maintain the exacting standards required by the RNLI's competence framework for operational activities both afloat and ashore.

Under the direction of the Assessor Trainer Manager, you will be involved in a wide range of activities, from helping new crew members to understand their role and responsibilities at a station, through to helping senior crew members prepare for command. Your role will also involve ensuring crew are fully prepared for one of our many residential courses at the RNLI College. Combined with this, you will also be involved in a programme of formal assessments at lifeboat stations to confirm training standards are being achieved and maintained.

You will have proven experience as a practical assessor/trainer with maritime experience. The role requires a lot of travelling so you will require a full drivers licence including the towing endorsement, this role will also give you the opportunity to develop within the role.

Computer literacy is essential, as is the ability to work well with volunteers and staff in an inclusive and diverse manner.

This post requires a valid driving licence.

As this is a sea-going appointment, you will need to satisfy the institution's medical and eyesight standards.
