Over 20,000 clients access our services each year and volunteers are a valuable element of LAT’s support for individuals involved in the criminal justice system.
We work in collaboration with Lincolnshire Partnership NHS Foundation Trust (LPFT) to deliver ‘Liaison and Diversion’, an exciting service which identifies and supports a wide range of health and other vulnerabilities at the earliest stage once an individual is arrested.
To deliver this service we employ a team of Criminal Justice Liaison & Diversion Support Workers based within Police custody suites in Lincoln, Grantham, Boston and Skegness, working with a team of LPFT clinical staff. Staff also provide outreach support and may be required to work at other locations on occasion. The service operates 365 days per year between 0900 to 2100 hours in each custody suite. The role will be an average of 38.5 hours per week working (44 hours over 4 days one week and 33 hours over 3 days in 'week 2').
You will receive referrals in police custody and you will use the correct protocols to determine individual needs including whether the person requires access to health or any other services. You will work in conjunction with clinicians and other services to achieve the best outcomes for clients which may include signposting to further resources. The role includes building effective relationships with clients and external agencies including colleagues in the custody suite. You will be responsible for accurate recording of data including adherence to any quality and recording standards. You will use your skills to support and advocate on behalf of vulnerable people.
