The Energy Division at ARM are currently recruiting an experienced Senior Mechanical Engineer to join a leading Nuclear client based out of Plymouth.

Job Overview:

You will be responsible for supporting design activities from requirements capture, design development from concept through to detailed design, implementation and close out, to through-life support, decommissioning and disposal.

You will be focussed on ensuring compliance with site Licence Conditions, statutory legislation and design codes/standards, producing design guidance, substantiation and analyses, and delivering against agreed budgets/timescales.

Some of your duties will include:

To support the Mechanical & Nuclear Process Manager and Principal Engineer Mechanical Systems for maintaining the Design Intent of Mechanical Services systems.
Provision of technical support, advice, guidance, and resolutions to optioneering studies, design reviews, HAZOPS etc.
Leading and working within a team of engineers, planning, and organising tasks and facilitating progress.
Managing own workload, maintaining, and updating staff workload and working to time allocations.
Design and specification of Mechanical Building Services systems - heating, cooling, ventilation, controls, etc.

What do you need to succeed?

Preferably Degree qualified, or equivalent qualification, in Building Services Engineering / Mechanical Engineering or related subjects.
Chartered Engineer with CIBSE or IMechE, or working towards CEng.
At least NVQ Level 5 in an engineering discipline and preferably a registered professional status with an Institute e.g. CIBSE, IET, IMechE.
Experience of working in a design consultancy and/or experience of working within a contractor design environment
Knowledge / experience in managing a small team of engineers.
Detailed knowledge of appropriate, regulations, legislation and technical standards that are applicable to mechanical services system design.
Understanding of mechanical engineering principles for the design, operation and maintenance of Steam & Condensate, Industrial Gases, Fresh Water, Demineralised Water, HVAC, Domestic Water services etc
Knowledge of operating within nuclear or other high-hazard environments
Familiar with energy reduction methods and approaches to decarbonising new and existing buildings. Including principles of building physics such as passive design solutions.
