Job Title: Court Team Social Worker
Location: Bournemouth, Christchurch, and Poole (BCP Council)
Pay rate: £48-£50 per hour (depending on experience)
Contract: Full-time, Locum
Department: Children’s Social Care – Court Team

Minimum 3 days per week at the office
Accommodation offer of £30 a night for up to 3 nights a week

About the Role:
Bournemouth, Christchurch, and Poole Council (BCP) is seeking a motivated and experienced Court Team Social Worker to join our dedicated Children’s Social Care service. In this pivotal role, you will manage complex cases that are proceeding to court, ensuring that the voices of children and families are heard and that legal processes are followed to safeguard children and promote their well-being.

This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled social worker to work in a fast-paced, specialist team and contribute to life-changing outcomes for vulnerable children and families.

Key Responsibilities:

* Manage cases where children are subject to public law care proceedings, including child protection cases.

* Prepare and present high-quality written reports for court, including Initial Statements, Care Plans, and reports for Children’s Hearings.

* Provide expert testimony in family court, ensuring that your recommendations reflect the best interests of the child.

* Collaborate closely with legal professionals, health services, and partner agencies to ensure timely and effective care plans are implemented.

* Engage with children, families, and carers, conducting assessments to ensure the child’s safety and well-being.

* Work within statutory frameworks and court timescales to deliver excellent service in line with local authority guidelines and the Children Act 1989.

* Liaise with other professionals and attend multi-agency meetings to contribute to case discussions and inform decisions.

* Keep accurate and up-to-date case records, ensuring compliance with statutory requirements and departmental policies.

Essential Requirements:

* Degree in Social Work (or equivalent qualification).

* Registered with Social Work England.

* Significant experience working within a children’s social care setting, with experience of managing court work and care proceedings.

* Strong understanding of child protection processes, public law care proceedings, and relevant legislation, including the Children Act 1989.

* Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to produce high-quality reports and present evidence confidently in court.

* Ability to work under pressure, managing complex caseloads and adhering to strict deadlines.

* Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle
