IT Technician

We are currently recruiting for an IT Technician to work with a Solicitors Firm, based in the Newport area.

General Role

Under the direction of the IT Manager, the successful candidate will ensure that the IT infrastructure and architecture, covering networks, storage, servers, telephony, printers, procurements, processes, and procedures, meets the needs of the Firm’s employees and clients and fulfils obligations relating to areas such as data protection, information security and business continuity.

Role Responsibilities

The role is to provide a first-class service to users and interact effectively with all third parties in order to ensure the smooth running and regular maintenance of all business systems, but specifically to:

Respond to hardware and software break/fix service calls and ensure equipment/issues are fixed within the timeframes of the Service Level Agreement.

Escalate incidents to next level support when the solution is unknown or cannot be solved within the defined timeframes.

*

Ensuring regular communication takes place between users and, where applicable, their line managers, of on-going service issues and ensuring that timely updates are provided.

*

To ensure the provision of technical advice and guidance to all lines of business relating to IT hardware and software.

*

To ensure a periodic review is undertaken of helpdesk issues to identify trends and/or establish root cause and, where applicable, the information discovered will feed into the department’s training/induction process reviews.

To ensure that all IT equipment and commercial ‘off the shelf’ software and services (COTS) used across the office network are fit for purpose and end users are trained to use them properly and effectively. From time to time this may require the post holder to procure and implement new systems and services, involving liaison with Partners in the organisation and 3rd party vendors and the application of project management methodologies.

To assist the IT Manager in the maintenance of corporate applications, servers, wi-fi and infrastructure security.

To ensure that the Firm’s remote access facility is fit for purpose and working effectively at all times.

Key Requirements

Active Directory – Windows Server 2012/2019

Azure Cloud Portal

*

Office 2016 / Office 365

*

Basic understanding of Networks – DNS/DHCP/TCPIP/Firewalls/MPLS/WiFI

*

Good understanding of Mobile technologies

*

Good understanding of Cloud based applications

*

Computer Hardware understanding

*

Good all-round knowledge of Computing

*

Good attention to detail

*

Computing Degree / Microsoft Qualifications
