Project Overview: The Box Encapsulation Plant (BEP) project at the Sellafield Site is a critical component of Sellafield's 100-year clean-up programme. This plant will encapsulate nuclear waste from the site's original waste plants in concrete, allowing for safe and modern storage. The primary focus is on waste from the Magnox Swarf Storage Silo, with additional responsibilities for waste from the First Generation Magnox Storage Pond, the Pile Fuel Storage Pond, and the Pile Fuel Cladding Silo.

Project Objective: The BEP Joint Venture project aims to safely design and deliver a plant that conditions wastes from various donor plants. The work must meet contractual requirements, align with the employer's needs, and satisfy stakeholders involved in the Box Encapsulation Project (BEP).

Role: Principal Civil & Structural Engineer

Reporting To:

* Area Lead Engineer 000

* Engineering Manager

Employment Type:

* Full-time

Key Responsibilities:

* Lead and manage engineering teams, ensuring workloads are completed within budget and schedule.

* Provide engineering support for construction and commissioning activities as per the project schedule.

* Establish and maintain strong relationships with the permanent works design team in Warrington, the on-site construction team, and the client's intelligent customer team to resolve technical issues promptly.

* Address technical queries, product permits, concessions, and non-conformances from construction activities in a timely manner.

* Interface daily with construction personnel on-site, ensuring engineering design intent is met according to drawings and specifications.

* Produce and review structural calculations (steelwork, concrete, and masonry), technical reports, and details for site modifications, with approval from the permanent works team.

* Review contractor method statements, inspection plans, and other relevant documents.

* Participate in and attend walkdowns, meetings, and reviews as necessary.

Qualifications:

* Degree qualified in a relevant engineering discipline.

* Preferably a Chartered Engineer (MIStructE or MICE).

* Experience in the nuclear industry is preferred but not essential.

* Pro-active, self-starter with excellent communication, analytical, and team-working skills.

* Understanding of CDM Regulations and duties as a Designer.

* Ability to obtain BPSS clearance is essential.

Technical Skills:

* Proficient with Microsoft Office software.

* Experience with STAAD-Pro, Tedds, and Navisworks
