TimePlan Education is thrilled to be recruiting for a prestigious secondary school in the vibrant London borough of Lewisham. The school is committed to delivering an exceptional educational experience and fostering a supportive and inclusive environment. We are seeking an enthusiastic and experienced Head of History for a 1-year fixed term contract starting in September. This is an exciting opportunity to lead a dynamic History Department and inspire a passion for history in students.

As the Head of History, you will be responsible for overseeing the History Department, driving curriculum development, and ensuring high-quality teaching and learning. You will lead a team of dedicated teachers, support their professional development, and contribute to the wider school leadership.

Key Responsibilities:

Lead and manage the History Department, including curriculum planning and delivery.

Foster a culture of high expectations and continuous improvement.

Support and mentor History teachers, promoting best practices and professional growth.

Monitor and evaluate the quality of teaching and learning within the department.

Ensure that all students are provided with the opportunity to achieve their full potential.

Coordinate and contribute to extracurricular activities related to History.

Collaborate with other departments and senior leadership to support the school's strategic objectives.

Qualifications and Experience:

Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and a degree in History or a related field.

Proven experience in teaching History at the secondary level.

Strong leadership and management skills, with previous experience in a similar role preferred.

Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.

A commitment to fostering a positive learning environment and raising standards.
