to work closely a student with 
Autistic Spectrum Condition (ASC)

Key Responsibilities:

Provide 1:1 tailored support for students with ASC, attachment needs, and SEMH difficulties.

Work alongside class teachers and SENCo to implement personalised education plans.

Support the emotional wellbeing and social development of the student, fostering a safe and supportive learning environment.

Help all students engage with learning activities, both in and outside the classroom.

Use effective communication strategies to build trust and positive relationships with the student, their family, and the wider school community.

Assist with behaviour management, using de-escalation techniques when needed.

Monitor and report on the student’s progress, adapting strategies to meet changing needs.

Essential Skills and Experience:

Previous experience working in an educational setting, or with children/young people with mental health challenges or autism.

A strong understanding of the challenges associated with ASC, attachment issues, and SEMH.

Ability to communicate effectively and with empathy, especially when managing challenging behaviour.

A calm, patient, and flexible approach, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Experience in supporting students with personalised learning strategies, including visual timetables, sensory breaks, and social stories.

A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.

A clean and current DBS that is on the update service or a willingness to obtain one.
