The Background and Role
An innovative organisation in the specialist defence-related industry is seeking a flexible and adaptable Design Engineer to join their team. The candidate must be able to pass a high security vetting upon employment.
The Person
Qualifications:
* Qualified to SVQ/NVQ level 5 or ONC/HNC (Minimum Level 4) or City & Guilds T4 or T6 in Mechanical Engineering.
* Supported by an EITB Approved Apprenticeship.
Skills and Knowledge:
* Solid understanding of Mechanical Engineering principles with the ability to apply them analytically and methodically.
* Strong background in Design, Project Administration, and Engineering.
* Proficient in Microsoft Project, Excel, and Word.
* Knowledge of SolidWorks Solid Modelling is advantageous.
Attributes:
* Flexible and adaptable to various working methods and processes.
* Well-organised and able to communicate technical and practical concepts effectively.
* Team player with good computer literacy.
Responsibilities
* Compile, monitor, and update project plans and status reports.
* Manage project engineering and procurement files.
* Provide technical and administrative support for specific projects.
* Support drawing and parts list release and modification.
* Assist during the procurement, build, and test phases of projects.
* Generate project procurement lists, and raise project RFQs and purchase orders.
* Monitor and actively progress the project procurement process.
* Handle project deliveries, goods inwards approval, and assignment to relevant projects.
* Undertake additional project duties as requested by Senior Management.
Experience
* Preferably 5+ years in a Mechanical Design/Manufacturing Environment.
* Aerospacee or MOD deswign Experience
