About the role of M&E Quantity Surveyor

In the role of an M&E Quantity Surveyor, you will be given the opportunity to work on a large-scale data centre project in East London, one of the largest to be constructed in the UK. This project entails overseeing the technical aspects of ongoing projects with an M&E package value ranging from £150m to £200m. Your direct supervisor will be the Commercial Director, and you will also be supported by the on-site Commercial Manager.

Responsibilities for M&E Quantity Surveyor

It is essential to inform site supervisory staff about the project's scope of works and inclusions in tender packages. This involves preparing tender packages for M&E subcontract works, as well as the necessary documents for the procurement of sub-contractors and the preparation of contracts and documents for inclusion in tender packages.

Additionally, it is crucial to monitor the month-on-month cash position to ensure it remains positive and that the forecasted project margin is met or exceeded. This involves preparing forecasts and reporting on financial status and cash flow, as well as administering subcontracts, including payments and claims, and submitting progress claims to the client. It is also important to maintain strong relationships with clients, subcontractors, suppliers, and consultants, and to administer the head contract, including assessing completed works and identifying where time extensions are needed.

Requirements for the M&E Quantity Surveyor

Proficiency in the M&E industry, encompassing labour and resource costs, as well as familiarity with M&E product markets. Background in Construction or Building with the ability to interpret drawings and plans. Experience in M&E Quantity Surveying and financial understanding of construction expenses. Knowledge of contracts, tender procedures, and legal matters, along with expertise in procurement, commercial governance, risk management, and cost forecasting. Exposure to lift installations and related services for high-value projects across various sectors is beneficial. Skilled in managing M&E sub-contract accounts to completion, demonstrating effective communication and negotiation skills. Familiarity with tender processes and contract management.
