Job Description

As the Rail Project Manager, you will be at the forefront of a significant project aimed at enhancing a key rail depot in Birmingham City Centre. This role involves comprehensive oversight of the project from inception to completion, ensuring all milestones are met within budget and on schedule. The ideal candidate will bring a wealth of experience in managing large-scale rail infrastructure projects and demonstrate exceptional leadership and problem-solving skills.

Key Responsibilities:

Project Leadership:

Lead the project team, providing clear direction and guidance throughout all project phases.
Define project scope, goals, and deliverables that support business goals in collaboration with senior management and stakeholders.
Stakeholder Management:

Establish and maintain strong relationships with clients, contractors, local authorities, and community representatives.
Conduct regular meetings with stakeholders to update them on project progress and address any concerns.
Planning and Execution:

Develop detailed project plans, schedules, and budgets, ensuring alignment with strategic objectives.
Coordinate internal resources and third parties/vendors for the flawless execution of the project.
Risk Management:

Identify and assess project risks, developing risk mitigation plans.
Monitor and manage potential risks to minimize impact on project delivery.
Quality Assurance:

Ensure all project work is performed to the highest quality standards, adhering to industry regulations and company policies.
Implement quality control measures to ensure compliance with project specifications and regulatory requirements.
Team Coordination:

Lead, mentor, and motivate the project team, promoting a culture of high performance and continuous improvement.
Facilitate communication and collaboration among project team members.
Reporting:

Prepare and present regular project reports, including status updates, budget tracking, and risk assessments, to senior management and stakeholders.
Ensure accurate documentation of all project activities and decisions.

Requirements

Experience: Minimum of 7 years of project management experience in rail infrastructure, with a strong emphasis on depot or large-scale enhancement projects.
Education: Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Project Management, or a related field. Advanced degrees (e.g., Master's, PMP certification) are highly desirable.
Skills:
Proven leadership and team management capabilities.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to make sound decisions under pressure.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, capable of managing diverse stakeholder groups.
Proficiency in project management software (e.g., MS Project, Primavera) and CAD software.
