Residential Childcare Support Workers (children’s homes)

·        Full or part-time opportunities, contracts are 16 or 37 hours per week, plus overtime

About the role

We are working with Beaufort Care Group who are a reputable, established company providing residential childcare and support services for looked-after children in Ringwood, Bournemouth, Poole and surrounding areas.

We are recruiting for Residential Childcare Support Workers to join their teams in the local area. They pride themselves in giving high quality childcare to children aged 8 to 16, putting the individual needs of the child at the very centre of what they do each day.

Residential Childcare Support Workers perform the role of ‘parent’.  You will contribute to the children’s care, building trusted relationships, supporting their educational needs, planning leisure activities, and creating a structured daily home life, where children can thrive, ensuring their welfare and safety. Our client provides a therapeutic, nurturing, caring, ‘family feel’ within each home that aims to enrich young lives and encourage their development in all aspects of life.

About you

As a Residential Childcare Support Worker, we look for personal qualities over experience. You will be able to demonstrate that you are:

·        Able to use basic life skills such as cooking, housekeeping and good home management

·        Flexible in your approach to support the children and your team

It would be beneficial to your application to demonstrate any previous experience of working with children, mental health services, or experience in handling emotional, behavioural difficulties, abuse, or trauma.

Essential criteria

To carry out your duties, you must be able to drive and hold a valid UK driving licence. You must be within a daily commutable distance of work and be prepared to travel as part of the role on occasions. For pool car/Company insurance reasons, you must be 21 years of age or older.

It is a requirement that you will either hold or be willing to work towards achieving the NVQ Level 4 in Children, Young People & Families Practitioner or hold an equivalent qualification such as NVQ 3 / Level 3 Diploma in Health & Social Care.

Successful candidates will be subject to ‘safer recruitment’ background checks including an enhanced DBS check, references, and eligibility to work in the UK.

·        Hourly rate starting from £11.55 per hour, rising to £12.12 per hour, following successful probation and completion of relevant NVQ qualification
