Our client, a design and manufacturing focused technology business, seek to appoint an R&D Project Engineer. With a manufacturing facility near Wakefield (which you will work from) and an overseas design office (which you will visit, but not be based out of) your role as R&D Project Engineer will be to liaise between the two and ensure that designs from overseas are manufactured correctly in the Wakefield plant. You will need to be comfortable reviewing engineering drawings and BOMs are fit for purpose when released to the manufacturing team, and have previous experience of providing technical support to production, assembly, test and quality teams involved in product manufacture. 

This is an opportunity to join a market leading business who operate on prestigious and lucrative projects. As R&D Project Engineer you will have a varied role working alongside end user clients, a matrix managed engineering function and manufacturing staff. You will receive a good basic salary and benefits package and work on large scale projects of key importance to the business from day one. There will be significant travel as part of this role, with a few trips each month, some of which will be international.

R&D Project Engineer - Skills and Abilities - Project Manager, Design, Engineering, Manufacturing, Mechanical, Energy, Building Services, Fabrication

Lead and manage research and development of new and existing products and components- from initiation to completion, ensuring adherence to project scope, budget, and timeline.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including engineering, quality, production and product management, to define project goals, deliverables, and success criteria.
Design, develop, and implement innovative solutions, prototypes, and proof-of-concept models based on project requirements.
Create detailed drawings for designs including General Assemblies.
Create and manage BOM (Bill of Material) data for all Designed, Produced and Assembled items.
Conduct feasibility studies, risk assessments, and technical evaluations to determine the viability and scalability of proposed solutions.
Develop and execute test plans, experiments, and validation protocols to assess the performance and reliability of developed prototypes.
R&D Project Engineer - Skills and Abilities - Project Manager, Design, Engineering, Manufacturing, Mechanical, Energy, Building Services, Fabrication

Level 8 Degree in Mechanical, Energy or Building Services Engineering would be ideal.
3+ years Mechanical Engineering Design experience.
Hands on approach to designing and fabrication.
Good knowledge of a high-end 3D and 2D CAD systems, Ideally SolidWorks and AutoCAD or similar.
