Pastoral Tutor Role
Located in Hornchurch
Full Time and 35 hours
Purpose of the Job:
Collaborate with teaching staff to provide pastoral support to learners, aiming to enhance attendance, retention, and achievement, and foster positive progression.
Deliver and facilitate a structured tutorial curriculum through weekly group sessions, aimed at developing learners' broader skills, promoting responsible and active citizenship.
Contribute to the development of learners' character, boosting their confidence and resilience to support their mental well-being.
Prepare learners for the next phase of their education.Specific Responsibilities for the Role:
Deliver and facilitate the core tutorial curriculum through group sessions, following the group Scheme of Work (SOW) and provided resources.
Start each group tutorial by reviewing the group's attendance for the previous week.
Conduct 1:1 tutorials using the prescribed process, setting and reviewing SMART targets in collaboration with teaching staff.
Provide ad hoc 1:1 tutorials and casework as needed, based on learner needs.
Assist learners with progression, including the UCAS process for Level 3 students.
Monitor at-risk learners and collaborate with parents, teachers, and support teams to keep them engaged and successful.
Support students in arranging and logging work experience/work placement hours as required.
Represent students and the college at internal and external meetings related to their caseload.
