Cover Supervisor

Spencer Clarke Group are looking for Cover Supervisors to join to work within secondary schools across Manchester.
Being a Cover Supervisor is a highly responsible position with daily variations. Typically working with students aged 11-16, cover supervisors facilitate pre-planned lessons in the absence of the regular class teacher. Covering multiple subjects, they must manage classroom behaviour to ensure students remain engaged in a safe and productive learning environment. This role is not a teaching position, so no teaching qualifications or prior experience are required. For those considering a future in teaching, this is a valuable opportunity to gain relevant experience.
This role is flexible and can accommodate other personal or work commitments. Typically work is available 1 to 5 days a week, Monday to Friday, from 8:30 AM to 3 PM and during school term time.
Expected Duties will include:
Delivering work set by the class teacher.
Managing student behaviour to ensure they stay focused on the assigned tasks.
Answering student questions during the lesson.
Handling immediate issues or emergencies according to school policies and procedures.
Reporting any problems or behavioural issues as per school policies.
What we are looking for:
Excellent communication skills.
Confidence in leading a class and managing challenging behaviour.
Experience working with children or young people in any setting, including volunteer work or placements - not essential but certainly is beneficial.
Adaptability and confidence.
Background experiences which would certainly help you in this role would be; sport coaching, holiday clubs, dance instructor, swimming instructor or interested in becoming a teacher.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 14.3% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
