Quantity Surveyor / Estimator
Aberdare – South Wales
Permanent salary + package
Sphere Solutions are currently looking for a Quantity Surveyor / Estimator to work for a multi-disciplined company delivering Structure Maintenance and Rail projects across England and Wales.
I’m working with a RISQS approved rail contractor, that cover a range of civil engineering and maintenance services to the rail infrastructure. After 15 years working in the Rail Industry has allowed the company to build technical expertise whilst developing and encouraging other innovative ideas such as adjustable FRP platform systems and driver walkways.
The Candidate:
* Ideally resides locally to the area and drives
* HNC/HND and preferably degree qualified
* Civil engineering and rail experience
* 2-3 years industry experience or more
* Comfortable undertaking estimating duties from time to time
* Good interpersonal communication, listening, and negotiation skills
* A good working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook
Responsibilities:
* Understanding, preparing and presenting monthly cost/value (CVR’s) and/or work in progress (WIP’s) reports with input and assistance from the Project Team.
* Experience of working with, negotiating and understanding the NEC contracts.
* Preparation of monthly cost plans identifying and providing justification for periodic or completion movements.
* Regular communication and liaison with the project team to identify and manage both contractors and client risk.
* Ability to prioritise and schedule workload enabling the meeting of external and internal submission deadlines.
* Working collaboratively with the department and project teams to ensure contract administration and internal processes are improved and maintained to the maximum standard.
* Understanding and experience in project programmes and critical paths
* Producing, submitting, substantiating and agreeing monthly Applications for Payment to the point of Certification.
* Producing, submitting, substantiating and negotiating external Final Accounts.
* Subcontract administration including but not limited to procurement, management, administration and Final Account agreement.
