Experienced Material and Inventory Controller required to work for Global manufacturer based in Plymouth. Reporting to the Supply Chain Innovation Leader, the successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring that the right materials are in the right place at the right time and at the lowest possible cost.

The role will include being accountable and responsible for all purchased materials from approved suppliers to meet company requirements. Personnel within the Material Control team who report directly to this position will oversee the company’s inventory and purchasing operations to maintain replenishment to meet demand. This will include but not be limited to, PO placement, sending forecast schedules and being the overall liaison with suppliers on expediting and deferrals when and where required. This role will oversee and support the materials management for the company as a whole which may include finite vendor management when required.

Working together with other departments in the business the role will be integral in developing and implementing business system changes and stocking strategies to meet the future goals of the business in relation to inventory reduction and the return on invested capital. The role will require interaction and consultation with other business areas to ensure any system changes/updates in their departments do not impact materials systems or to work towards resolving any impacts in the best interests of the business.

Key Responsibilities & Activities:

* Reporting to the Supply Chain Innovation Leader, the role will ensure material availability to meet customer demand, New Product Introduction, production planning and any other project requirements.

* Challenging and fixing any losses in the supply process both at source and at the supplier to ensure that work processes are continually adapted to the current environment.

* Support localisation projects involving bringing in/switching off component supply from external provider to a local supplier.

* Manage material and inventory requirement activities across the full range of production demand through Day-to-Day supplier liaison and co-ordinated cross functional communications.

* Be responsible for all manufacturing product demand against scheduled MRP driven requirements.

* Ensure we analyse, co-ordinate and confirm material availability and either increase, expedite, or delay deliveries in accordance with production needs.

* Manage inventory through an agreed stocking and replenishment strategy.

* Manage schedule / PO change requirements to meet operational needs.

* Responsible for Operational Performance Management through defining measurement techniques and maintain all Purchasing and Material inventory performance KPIs, including OTD/OTIF, RTS payment, debt recovery, query resolution, raw and component material inventory management.

* Tight control and implementation of new procedures to support the business in achieving streamlined, transparent material visibility, using SAP. Provide a focus for all supplier related issues at the company and ensure timely, accurate expediting, RTS and KPI support.

* Responsible for the ordering of components, monitoring the adherence to lead-times, supplier delivery performance, as well as safety stocks, stocking strategies and ensuring delivery dates from the supplier are confirmed.

* The position involves liaising with suppliers and other departments within the business, supporting them, while working to achieve individual departmental targets and goals in support of company revenue and inventory targets and operational goals for on-time customer order fulfilment.

* Working together with other departments in the business the role will be integral in developing and implementing business system changes and stocking strategies to meet the future goals of the business in relation to inventory reduction and the return on invested capital.

* Prepare and present reports detailing the performance against defined KPI’s in support of the overall Company strategy.

* Operate within parameters of Supplier SLAs and ensure compliance through regular KPI performance measurement and cross functional scorecard feedback.

* Be responsible for and ensure that all documentation is correct and that team members are aware of the correct operating procedures for their respective activities and adhere to them.

* Ensure core tools are used to improve performance and a consistent approach is taken across product lines including the use of best practice techniques.

* Be responsible for ensuring that any workload and capacity limiting issues are identified, working with the team to ensure business requirements are not adversely impacted.

* Promote and participate actively in the creation and execution of strategic projects & actions.

* Monitor and work towards lead time reductions.

* Attend and contribute to weekly team toolbox talks and follow up on actions/projects to meet deadlines laid out.

* Ensure Manager is made aware of any potential supply issues and actions to resolve in a timely basis.

Essential Qualifications, Experience and Attributes to apply for this role:

* Proven experience working as a Material and Inventory Controller within Engineering or Manufacturing.

* Pro-active, strategic thinker, with strong analytical skills (attention to detail), with excellent communication skills, a strong customer focus and process management understanding.

* Strong analytical, statistical and computer literate: word, excel, PowerPoint, ERP system SAP knowledge.

* Team player and people person. Approachable, friendly and diplomatic personality required to build and sustain relationships.
