About The Role
We are currently recruiting a dynamic Senior Quantity Surveyor to join our expanding commercial team and support the growth of our business.
This is a key position for us and pivotal to both our divisional business expansion plans and very exciting future workload.
You will be supporting the project workload of our operational teams working on a variety of electrical engineering contracts in the Rail Infrastructure sector.
Reporting directly to the Commercial Manager, responsibilities will include:
Providing the commercial support across a wide variety of projects, both within existing frameworks and stand-alone projects, to ensure successful project delivery
Applications, valuations / cost value reconciliations
Cost control and forecasting. Prepare and feed information for monthly reports: value, cost, profit/loss, cash flow
Supply chain management
Assisting with Risk and Value Management to optimise solutions
Mentor and regularly review the project team
Contract Management - including all relevant contractual forms, methods of budgetary control and relevant software applications
Prepare subcontract enquiries negotiate and set up contracts
Ensure all notifications/documents are kept up to date
Ensure all safety risk situations are brought to the attention of site management
Ongoing liaison with site team, subcontractor(s) and clients' representative(s)
Promoting collaborative and effective teamworking within the client environment
Assisting and providing commercial/contractual guidance during the production of variations
Provide contractual advice to the site team as and when required. Management and close out of Final Accounts
Pro-active dispute avoidance and management
Assess, review, and mitigate commercial and contractual risks
Ensure compliance with all legal requirements, including contractual and legislative
The successful applicant will have gained experience in a similar level role, be well organised, with good presentation skills and have the ability to communicate professionally at all levels.
Degree Qualified in either Quantity Surveying or Construction Management (or equivalent)
Successfully worked within a team of Quantity Surveyors previously, but equally capable of working alone
A real eye for the finer details
Confident IT skills, particularly Excel
Previous experience with NR and NEC forms of contract is essentialDue to the variety of forms of contract used and complexity of the projects we work on, we prefer applicants (but is not essential) for this role to have a background in working on M&E packages for civil infrastructure and/or civil engineering contracts.
You will be commercially astute with a history of delivering projects within budget and possess the necessary interpersonal skills to work closely with client and site teams.
